It's a big task to get acclimated to a new school, especially in a foreign country. Keller Graduate School of Management not only provides new student orientation and the support services you need to thrive, we connect you with an International Student Advisor who offers one-on-one assistance any time.

New International Student Orientation

New International Student Orientation is held at the 4 campuses with designated international student services. In-person attendance is required. You will learn your rights and responsibilities while in F-1 status, meet your International Student Advisor and learn about the Student Service Office.

Maintaining F-1 Status

While studying in the United States, it is important to maintain F-1 student status.

  • Attend and pass all classes
  • If unable to complete program by end date listed on Form I-20, talk with your International Student Advisor (ISA) about requesting possible program extension
  • Take a full course of study each term; if cannot study full-time, contact your International Student Advisor

Do not drop a class without speaking first with your International Student Advisor.

  • Keep your local address updated with your International Student Advisor at Keller Graduate School of Management
  • Maintain full-time enrollment
  • Get Keller Graduate School of Management Advisor approval before withdrawal from Keller Graduate School of Management
  • Attend the school noted on your I-20 form
  • Keep your I-20 form valid at all times
  • Get a travel endorsement

  • Change of major, program, or degree level

Housing Assistance

Keller Graduate School of Management does not offer formal housing assistance, but does offer campus-specific resources for students to investigate. The following housing options may be available:

  • Private apartments – The Campus maintains a current list of apartments in the school's vicinity. A security deposit, equal to the first month's rent, is generally required in advance to secure these apartments. A rental or credit history may also be required. Leasing terms are established between apartment complexes/owners and students.
  • Homestay – Students may contact The American Homestay Network if interested in staying with a local host for accommodations.

Academic advising is provided during specified hours. Please check with your individual location for details.

Recovering Lost Documentation

If any important documentation, such as passport, visa or arrival-departure records (Form I-94), are lost or stolen at any point during your time at Keller, notify your International Student Advisor immediately. Then refer to the U.S. Department of State website for help in replacing these documents.

International Student Health Insurance

Medical charges can be expensive. Be prepared and be knowledgeable about the resources available to you while studying in the United States.

Although Keller Graduate School of Management does not offer student health insurance, students are encouraged to obtain the appropriate coverage to meet their needs. ASPIRE International Connection

DeVry University and its Keller Graduate School of Management have partnered with ASPIRE International Connection to help assist students inside of the classroom and out.

ASPIRE gives enrolled students and their families 24/7 direct access to a network of professionals to provide emotional support, life coaching, financial and legal consultation, and a wide range of resources to balance school and life.

ASPIRE's International Connection resources can help you with:

  • Access to clinicians for culture shock, stress and emotional support
  • Immigration information
  • Health and travel insurance referrals
  • Study abroad resources including relocation guides and community groups

International students enrolled at DeVry University or its Keller Graduate School of Management will have access to ASPIRE’s student services through the student portal.

Working on campus at Keller Graduate School of Management can help make your education more affordable. It can also help you get connected with the broader Keller community.

For F-1 Transfers

Eligibility

If an F-1 student finishes a program (such as a bachelor's degree) and starts another program of study at the same campus, the student may continue on-campus employment as long as the student plans to enroll in the new program of study for the next term.

An F-1 student, who is enrolled in school, maintains status, and follows the guidelines for on-campus employment may continue to work. The F-1 student should keep International Student Advisor informed of any changes in employer and hours.

Requirements

An F-1 student working on-campus may participate in CPT or pre-completion OPT before the program end date. The F-1 student’s total work hours for each type of work may not exceed 20 hours while school is in session. In this context, the F-1 student must remember that the primary purpose for being in the United States and way of maintaining status is enrollment at Keller Graduate School of Management.

An F-1 student cannot work on-campus after graduation unless continuing education at the next program level at Keller Graduate School of Management.

An F-1 student must speak with International Student Advisor within 10 days of changing jobs. This will allow International Student Advisor to ensure the new position qualifies as on-campus employment and to ensure Keller Graduate School of Management has the correct employment information in the student's SEVIS record.

For F-1 Transfers

When an F-1 student transfers to Keller Graduate School of Management, on-campus employment is available to the student only at Keller Graduate School of Management after the record release date. The F-1 student cannot work at the prior school after that date. Keller Graduate School of Management can authorize work starting within 30 days of the program start date.
