Using a combination of approved transfer credits, course waivers and/or credit for professional training, you may satisfy requirements for up to six courses in a particular degree program, and accelerate the journey to your master’s degree.

Course Waiver Eligibility
To qualify for waivers based on a body of knowledge, students must have:

• Completed a undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant discipline from a DeVry-recognized university within 10 years of the date of application for the master’s degree program at Keller
• Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 at the time of graduation in their prior relevant degree program.

To qualify for individual course waivers based on evaluation of courses, students must have:

• Completed a DVU-recognized undergraduate degree and the course(s) to be considered for a waiver within 10 years of the date of application for the master’s degree program at Keller
• Earned a B (3.00) or higher in each course evaluated for waiver consideration

If you have earned an advanced degree (master’s degree, M.D., J.D., Ph.D.), hold a CPA license, or have passed applicable parts of the CPA exam, you may be eligible for course waivers, which reduce the number of courses you must take in your master’s degree program at Keller. Eligibility is evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

If you are enrolled in a degree program, credit for up to three courses (nine semester-credit hours) may be transferred from other University-recognized graduate schools.** To receive transfer credit, the following criteria must be met:

• The course or courses taken were for graduate credit while you were enrolled as a graduate student.
• The course or courses taken are equivalent to a Keller course in content, level and credit hours.
• The grade or grades earned were B or better.
• The course or courses were completed within the five years preceding initial enrollment at Keller.

Courses taken on a pass/fail basis may not be transferred. Transfer credit reduces the number of courses you must take, and correspondingly reduces your costs, but does not affect grade point average calculations.

If you are pursuing a graduate certificate, you may apply a maximum of three semester-credit hours of transfer credit to your certificate requirements. Transfer credit is not granted for CPA exam-preparation courses. If you have already earned your CPA and/or CFA certification, you may be eligible for our Master's Advantage program.

The University awards transfer credit, as appropriate, based on recommendations of the American Council on Education College Credit Recommendation Service, which evaluates work force and military training programs to determine their comparability to college-level learning. To earn credit, students must earn the minimum ACE recommended score or higher. If you have extensive academic or professional experience, you may be able to substitute one or more courses by submitting a request, along with required documentation, to your student support advisor. Course substitutions do not reduce the number of courses you must take to earn your degree; however, you may choose additional electives in your area of interest if all prerequisites are met.***

The type of documentation required to verify relevant expertise includes but is not limited to academic transcripts, a detailed job description or evidence of relevant licensure/certification. The number of course substitutions a student may receive is determined by the academic administrator who reviews the request.
