The Master of Accounting and Financial Management program is designed to provide to provide with the skills necessary to pursue a career in accounting. Please check with your state’s board of accountancy regarding its specific requirements for sitting for the CPA exam.
The Master of Science in Accounting program is specifically designed for individuals with a degree or concentration in accounting at the undergraduate level, and wish to obtain the additional credits required to meet CPA licensure requirements in their state.
Do I have to take all of the listed classes in the MAFM program with CPA exam preparation concentration?
No, while there are several specific requirements in the program, you can fulfill nine credit hours of electives in the accounting discipline that may best suit your needs. However, it is recommended that you seek advisement to ensure that you select courses that will best fulfill your state’s requirements for sitting for the CPA exam.
If I earn the MAFM degree with CPA exam preparation focus, will I automatically get my CPA?
No. In addition to completing the degree, you will need to pass all four parts of the CPA exam. In addition, you will need to make sure that you have completed the additional experience and credit-hour requirements as established by your state of residence. Each state’s requirements vary, so please check with your state licensing board for their specific requirements.
If I complete the graduate certificate in CPA exam preparation, can I get my CPA?
While you are not automatically granted the CPA license, you may be able to sit for the CPA exam. In addition to successfully completing the CPA exam, you will need to satisfy the experience and credit-hour requirements that have been established by your state to become a licensed CPA.
